I wouldn t worry about expiration dates on oil Expiration dates are just a scam to get people to buy more stuff Pennzoil is the easiest the date is a simple date day month year Castrol is fairly simple also letter is plant code then five numbers First two are the year last 3 are the day of the year
The date codes indicated that all five quarts were packaged on January 4 2008 at 14 45 hours I had to dig through the rack to find a recent date code as almost all of the PP 5W 20 quarts were packaged on July 3 2007 The date code on the bottle indicated it was packaged in 2016 so this is a good representation of both the API SN specification and the GM dexos 1 Gen 1 specification Watch for next week s post and compare the additive packages
